Sound and Vision - Bathgate Bands

Sound and Vision started playing in Cleland Miners Social Club during 1983 providing music and entertainment up until 1990. When the band started, at Cleland Miners crowds were pretty dismal and the existing punters did not take to to the band initially (not as good as John Doak seemingly). But the band quickly established a healthy loyal following.  Buses would arrive every Friday and Saturday from all over Central Scotland with people prepared to queue outside from 5:30pm to ensure getting admission to the club (the doors did not open until 7:00pm with band not starting until 8:00pm).

 There were many themed nights at the club with a beach party every August, fancy dress party every Halloween and the traditional Christmas party nights throughout December.

 There were many characters at the club, which we hope to elaborate in more detail over the next few months.  One such character was Noel, who created brilliant cartoons drawn on the inside of a Hamlet cigar packet.  Here is an example:
